But the first time I asked AI to help me write lyrics—in a language I don’t speak fluently, but love deeply—I felt something really beautiful. Something totally unexpected. That song became “Armadura de Amor.”

There used to be a storefront on the ground floor of the Edificio España in Madrid, and if you looked through the window you’d see a life-sized suit of armor in traditional Spanish style, with a very high price tag.
I worked upstairs for a year while studying at the Royal Conservatory of Music—and every day I’d glance at that gleaming knight, standing guard like something out of a dream. The idea of bringing it home to the U.S. never quite felt right. It was a fantasy I chose not to follow—but I never forgot it. That memory became “Armadura de Amor.”

En la planta baja del Edificio España en Madrid solía haber un escaparate, y si mirabas por la ventana, veías una armadura de tamaño real al estilo tradicional español, con una etiqueta de precio bastante alta.
Trabajé en los pisos superiores durante un año mientras estudiaba en el Real Conservatorio de Música—y todos los días echaba un vistazo al caballero reluciente, de pie como un guardián salido de un sueño. From “Armadura de Amor”, more songs followed—some born from dreams, others from memories of Spain or long-ago summers in California. One by one, they came together to form this album: Metros y Murciélagos.
A partir de “Armadura de Amor”, siguieron más canciones — algunas nacieron de sueños, otras de recuerdos de España o de veranos lejanos en California. Una a una, se unieron para formar este álbum: Metros y Murciélagos.
The title sounds so much more poetic in Spanish than in English (you can try an online translator if you want!). This album is a love letter to cities, symbols, rhythms, and reflection.
El título suena mucho más poético en español que en inglés (¡puedes probar con un traductor en línea si quieres!). Este álbum es una carta de amor a las ciudades, los símbolos, los ritmos y la reflexión.
These songs echo underground and above, through city streets and soaring into the sky with joyful sound.
Estas canciones resuenan bajo tierra y sobre ella, por las calles de la ciudad y se elevan al cielo con alegría sonora.
They flow through flamenco, indie, Latin soul, and soft metal—each rooted in feeling and carried by imagination.

Even though the album is entirely in Spanish, it’s really about something beyond language: connection, memory, choice, beauty, and the quiet strength of the heart.
